Kayla had been in her new nursing job for just three months when a severe back injury left her unable to walk. She applied for disability, but it was denied. Bills piled up. In just six months, the family’s savings disappeared.

Then came the diagnosis no parent is ever prepared to hear: Two-year-old Nora had leukemia.

Her treatment required weekly trips to the hospital, 100 miles each time. With no income and no savings, those drives were impossible to afford.
