A new chapter for one of our longest-served kids

Wonderful news! One of our longest running Compass to Care kids, Karter, has finished active treatment for Choroid Plexus Carcinoma! In a recent MRI, brain scans showed his status as STABLE! After another follow up later this year, Karter will be able to embark on his post-cancer life.

You may recognize Karter from our fashion show in 2019, when he walked the aisle with his twin brother, Khristian. It’s an amazing feeling when any Compass to Care child completes their treatment regimen, but for it to be a family we have come to know over seven years of trips and chemo sessions is a very special thing.

Karter’s mom, Alyssa, had this to say to the Compass to Care community:

“Thank you so much for all of the help and support this organization has provided to us during these past seven years. We are beyond grateful and could truly never say thank you enough. Hopefully we are never in need of services again, but we’re forever grateful that Compass to Care is there should we ever need it.

“Thank you to you and the entire organization. We could not have survived all of the financial burdens placed upon us as young college students without the resources you all have provided to us. It’s been such a blessing in our lives! Again, thank you.”

Karter’s story is a reminder that travel support has an impact not only on the child, but on the entire family. After seven long years, Karter will be able to focus on being a kid with his brother and best friend, Khristian. Congratulations, Karter! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
